Could do with another season like this one

Just looking at the goals scored this season (1957-58) and thinking we could do with that again. Especially a repeat of the result on December 14th. We play them tomorrow. We haven't won at their park since the 1979-80 season. A quarter of a fecking century. That run has got to come to an end soon. Problem is our two best defenders aren't available for tomorrow's game.

My fella has been very chirpy all morning and i wondered what had caused his change in mood, then I realised Blackburn rovers were playing today, the season has re-started - feck :( he is counting down in hours minutes and seconds to kick off, he keeps updating me with how much time is left!

Reminds me of when Thistle won "the Scottish" in 1994. The match was played at Ibrox Stadium (Rangers FC). Thistle scored in 37 minutes according to the scoreboard at Ibrox so I turned to the person behind me (who I knew from at school years before) "only another 53 minutes to go". When it changed to 38 minutes I turned round again and said "only another 52 minutes to go". This went on for the remaining 52 minutes and drove him mental.

There were 8668 people at Ibrox that day. It had been the largest crowd at the final since 1987 and to this day no crowd at the final has been larger. Although, it doesn't compare to the 77,650 that were at the final in 1951. No ground in Scotland (and probably the UK) could even hold that nowadays. Changed days indeed. No Health and Safety nazis back then.
